TEAM LEVELS

 TopTots

This is a pre-team that practices two times per week for about 45 minutes per day.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Selection to this group of girls is by invitation only.  This is for girls three to four years of age.  Emphasis is placed on strength, flexibility and learning through play.  An exhibition is scheduled twice a year for this level.  Exhibition participation is strongly encouraged, but NOT required.

Level 1-2

This is the first training team at PG.  Gymnast work out two days per week, 2 1/2 hours per day.  This included an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition for these levels consists of skill testing approximately every 60 days during the school year.  Skills are determined by USA Gymnastics' standardized program.  PG coaches have been certified via a training course and exam, to judge the skill testings.

Level 3

Level 3 is the first competition level involving compulsory routines with an emphasis on recreational competitions.  Workouts are three days per week, two to three hours each day.  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition involves travel within the city and state.  Level 3 gymnasts compete in the Nebraska State Championships if they attain a qualifying score (determined annually by each state) during the regular competition season.

 Level 4

Level 4 is the second competition level involving compulsory routines.  Gymnasts at this level train three days per week for three to four hours per day.  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition involves travel within the city and state.   Level 4 gymnasts compete in the Nebraska State Championships if they attain a qualifying score (determined annually by each state) during the regular competition season.

Level 5

Level 5 is the first competition level involving traveling out of state.  Gymnasts at this level train three days per week for three to four hours per day.  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition involves travel within the city and state and neighboring states.   Level 5 gymnasts compete in the Nebraska State Championships if they attain a qualifying score (determined annually by each state) during the regular competition season.

 Level 6

Level 6 is a continuation of training in the compulsory levels, with slightly more difficult skills and routines.  Gymnasts train three to four days per week for three to four hours per day.  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition involves travel within the city and state and neighboring states.   Level 6 gymnasts compete in the Nebraska State Championships if they attain a qualifying score (determined annually by each state) during the regular competition season.  Gymnasts moving to Level 7 in December will NOT be eligible for meets requiring air travel in the spring immediately following their Level 6 season.

Level 7

Level 7 gymnasts train four to five days per week for 4 1/2 to five hours per day (the number of days, 4 or 5, is the choice of the gymnast and parent, NOT the staff).  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Level 7 is the first level of optional competition (individually choreographed routines), involving invitationals both within and outside of Nebraska.   Only Level 7 gymnasts who train 5 days a week will be eligible for meets requiring air travel.  Gymnasts participate in the State Championships if they attain the qualifying score (determined annually by each state) during the season.

 Levels 8-10

Optional competition is included at all of these levels.  Level 8-10 gymnasts train five days per week for 4 1/2 to five hours per day.  This includes an additional required dance class scheduled on one of their workout days.  There are no make up classes for missed workouts.  Competition includes many invitationals, mostly outside the state.  The Nebraska State Championships, Regional Championships, Western Nationals (Level 9 only) and Junior Olympic Nationals (Level 10 only) are all possible competitions for gymnasts of these levels that are able to attain the qualifying scores.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS

 Girls levels 1-10

Along with the USAG score requirements to move up through the level system, the coaching staff has additional strength, flexibility, and skill requirements that each gymnast must attain before moving to the next level.  Information regarding these requirements is distributed to the gymnasts and posted on the bulletin board well before "move up" time.  Skills are periodically tested during workouts.  Gymnasts can move up to the next level at any time of the year at the coaches' discretion.  Optional level gymnasts will spend a maximum of two years at a given level unless there are extraordinary circumstances.
